The supply chain, multi-sourced by design

From Apollyon Wiki
Apollyon Dynamics · Strategy

Seventy years of Indian defence history demonstrates that relying on single-source foreign suppliers creates strategic risk. Our procurement rule is straightforward: maintain at least two qualified sources for every critical component where feasible, keep core proprietary engineering in-house, and establish a clear roadmap to domestic production for anything sourced externally today.

01 · Posture

Component ownership and multi-sourcing rules

Supply chain resilience begins with systems architecture. Because guidance algorithms, mission logic, and composite airframe structures determine flight performance, Apollyon designs and builds these layers directly. The flight-control baseline is licensed from Embention (Veronte) for initial production, with an in-house equivalent to be developed in parallel once production is steady. For supporting electronics and mechanical assemblies, we enforce dual-sourcing across distinct regulatory jurisdictions.

  • Owned in-house: Composite structures, internal bulkheads, fuel delivery systems, seeker algorithmic integration, flight-control configuration packages, launch rails, and our simulation physics environment.
  • Multi-sourced: Gas turbine engines, tactical inertial sensors, encrypted telemetry transceivers, and motor speed controllers. Each component maintains at least two qualified manufacturing sources across India, Europe, the Americas, or East Asia to prevent export bottlenecks.
  • Strategic domestic partners: High-resolution imaging seekers developed with Tonbo Imaging in Bengaluru, keeping sensitive optical guidance technology within the Indian industrial base.

By categorizing components into owned technology, domestic partnerships, dual-sourced items, or globally available hardware, we ensure that every critical subsystem has a named owner and an accountable supply path.

Domestic seeker integration and export access

High-resolution imaging seekers are among the most closely controlled components in international defence procurement. Export licensing reviews and supplier allocation can delay delivery schedules during geopolitical shifts. Sourcing seekers domestically through our partnership with Tonbo Imaging anchors our optical guidance inside India and avoids foreign regulatory vetoes. It also opens distribution through Tonbo's existing customer base across non-aligned defence markets in Eastern Europe, Latin America, and North Africa. Because Indian defence products are not subject to foreign export controls or Western ITAR restrictions, our platforms can be delivered reliably to partner nations.

High-discharge battery cellsHigh dynamic discharge demands under continuous high-G envelope sprint.Packs use a standardised mechanical and thermal enclosure. HBL Engineering anchors the primary domestic route, with allied sovereign cells verified under thermal cycling and shock testing. Redundant dual-sourcing prevents single-supplier bottlenecks before volume delivery.
Telemetry link (RF dual-sourcing)Foreign regulatory updates could delay radio transceiver deliveries.Qualifying a secondary encrypted Indian datalink with the same interface profile. Nightshade already runs dual-sourced datalinks.
Flight computer (commercial edge module on Ahuti)Export classification shifts on embedded computing modules.Baseline uses commercial non-ITAR modules; domestic pin-compatible edge compute boards are currently undergoing environmental qualification.
EO/IR sensor payloadForeign single-source optical assemblies on light interceptors.Developing an indigenous Tonbo lightweight microbolometer payload once fleet production scale justifies custom tooling.
High-thrust turbofan scaling (Hemlock class)Long-range cruise missiles need the 450 kgf class, where the supplier base is narrower than for micro-turbines.Anchored on the GTRE Manik 450, built by BrahMos Aerospace Thiruvananthapuram (BATL). Deliveries are still at low rate — 15 of a first order of 35 engines had been delivered by mid-2025 — against the 240–480 a year needed at full rate.

Component qualification evidence accumulates across individual subsystem programs and transfers into our shared engineering repository, allowing subsequent platforms to build directly on validated hardware baselines.
