Launch and ground systems

From Apollyon Wiki
Ground segment · launchers, canisters and readiness · core subsystem · all strike and intercept systems

Readiness time is a core design requirement. An interceptor that requires ten minutes of preparation misses its engagement window, while a strike missile that demands prepared launch pads cannot disperse across tactical terrain.

Ground-segment engineering requirements

Zero-length canister rail and solid booster

An air-breathing turbojet cannot accelerate a 1,500 kg missile from zero airspeed. A solid rocket booster accelerates the round off a zero-length rail, delivering the airframe to turbojet ignition speed within 2.5 seconds before cleanly jettisoning. Encapsulating the rail inside a sealed canister allows standard 8×8 military trucks to transport, erect, and fire rounds without fixed launch infrastructure.

Rapid deployment across extreme temperature envelopes

Nightshade deploys from transport cases to flight status in under 25 minutes across ambient temperatures from −15 °C to +50 °C. The Hemlock launches from plateau floors at 4,500 m AMSL and above, across a certified −30 °C to +55 °C band (HQ IDS TPCR 2025 item 15; Army questionnaire, July 2026).

Immediate response for interceptor canisters

Ahuti's readiness is set by how fast the threat is coming, not by the crew's schedule. The round requires zero field assembly, propellant servicing, or sensor alignment. Sealed canisters stand on ready alert; when sector radar establishes a track, the interceptor is ready to fly the moment the commander releases it, under radar guidance and without a preliminary visual search.

03 · Host platforms

Chassis compatibility and command links

Launch hardware mounts directly onto standard Indian Army high-mobility logistics vehicles. That lets it use existing maintenance depots, spare parts inventories, and driver certifications instead of introducing proprietary transport platforms.

When forward radar and C2 operate in the sector, the local air picture sends tracks straight to the canister batteries, and target nominations pass coordinates to strike packages. Ground launchers connect over standard tactical networks to receive mission assignments.

Command hierarchy boundary

Software never releases a weapon on its own. Mission systems correlate tracks and nominate engagement solutions, while human commanders retain sole authority for launch decisions. See Precision is Mercy.
